Rishis
and Masters
We can know about these past lives if we know the technology
of breathing. This is the next step after Ramana Maharshi
(Understanding silence, knowing the watcher, assuming the
state of witness (sakshi) to the universe is what is given
by Jillellamudi Amma and Ramana Maharshi. This is the first
step). The soul (atma) that is reborn again and again should
know how it is to live. What is the experiment that is to
be conducted in this life has to be known. The experiment
done by each individual depends on his breathing pattern.
This has been given by Lahiri Mahasaya and Paramahamsa Yogananda.
If you change your breathing pattern, you will become an engineer
instead of a doctor.
To decide on what experiment needs to be conducted, you should
know what humanity is doing. This is like a literature survey
that is done before commencing research work. During the literature
survey, the student finds about all the work that has been
done in the field of interest and ascertains that his topic
of research has not been delved into till then.
Similarly, to successfully conduct the experiment of life,
we should know what humanity has been doing. For this we should
know Theosophical literature. We should know about the root
races, evolution and dissolution of lives, the characteristics
and capacities of the etheric body, astral body, mental body
and causal body. We should also know about how the interaction
in previous lives is having its effect in the present life.
This is known by the name of Karma.
The greatest contribution of Sri Aurobindo to humanity is
the concept of synthesis and integral yoga. He explained how
one can realise the precept “All life is Yoga”.
He explained how all parts of our being – physical,
astral, mental, causal could be synthesised into WHOLE and
transform it to perfect state of Yoga.
Ramana Maharshi’s basic approach towards life is that
you should be beyond body, desires and mind. You should be
an active witness to all these just like a mother who supervises
her child at play and pulls him back whenever he is in danger.
Similarly, you should be a watcher to all the activities of
the world and pull your body, desires and mind whenever they
swerve away from the path. If you are a karma yogi, you should
control your physical body. If you are a bhakti yogi, you
should control your emotional body and if you are a Jnana
yogi, you should control your mental body. If you are a synthetic
or integral Yogi, you should control all the three bodies.
You should be aware of your thoughts, emotions and actions
and this is what is meant by a state of witness (Sakshi bhaava
)
When you do all these, you realize that in addition to your
individual potential, there are divine energies that can help
you. This is to be learnt from the sadhana of Sri Ramakrishna
Paramahamsa. The 33 vertebrae in the backbone are the sources
of divine power. These have to be understood and realized
as 12 Adityas, 11 Rudras, 8 Vasus and 2 Ashwini kumaras. When
you understand the science of devatas, it is called vidya.
How to utilize the devata energies to hasten evolution can
be understood from the life and works of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.
The joining of hands of devatas and humans to progress in
evolution is what is to be understood as devapujan. This collective
effort is called sangateekaran. The result of this collective
effort is given as daan to the society. This 3-fold process
of Devapujan, Sangateekaran and Daan is the basis for Yagna
as propounded by Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya.
You can do all that has been given above only if you have
shraddha. You cannot apply logic to these. Your belief should
evolve into faith and put you in action. This is what has
been given by Sai cult as faith (Nishta) and patience (Saboori)
Let us not try to see these Masters who adorn the Akhanda
Gurusatta as individuals with a particular name and physical
body. They are the embodiments of the concepts given above.
It is practically not possible to list out all the Gurus,
hence the 14 Gurus are symbolic of all the 14 levels in spiritual
education (6 Chakras + 5 koshas + 3 Granthis). One who has
mastered all the 14 levels of education is said to be the
Master of 14 worlds of consciousness. Each Master is representative
of a consciousness. If one can understand “Akhanda Gurusatta”
in this spirit of inclusiveness, you will see your own Guru
as a part of this galaxy of Masters.
LOVE is the quality that is to be developed and that is the
real Parasuvedi which can transform baser metals to nobler
metals. If we know how to love, even an enemy becomes a friend.
Do we really know how to love? We should know how to have
the real love of a Master, a Guru. Do we even think about
what sacrifices these masters have done. They have descended
from such higher planes. The messengers from higher planes
come in abundance to this planet earth, mostly to India. You
just cannot understand how they feel being here. The level
at which they live. And they have left all that to transform
us. Feel that touch of love from them. That is Parasuvedi
which transforms you.
We are not allowing the love of the masters to touch us.
Our desires are in between. The main characteristic of air
is touch. Let the air that you breathe in touch you. It takes
time to establish this....but try try until you get the touch
of the Master.
